Co Pre Fall 2021

A distinct sense of ease reverberates through the entire 2021 pre-fall Co’s collection. Designers Stephanie Danan and Justin Kern focused on simplicity and clear lines, enhancing the softer side of fashion against the roughness and aggressiveness of the pandemic.
“How can you make something look extremely designed and chic without having to think about it too much? When we give in to simplicity, it almost feels peaceful”, told Danan to Vogue.
Indeed, peace is the first word and feeling coming to mind when looking at the collection; lightweight cotton poplin, neutral colours tending mainly to black and white, elegantly defining the morbid lines of cardigans and the ample dresses. Elastic trousers increase the possibility of movement and comfort, as well as the long white chemises blurring the natural curves of the body.
Simplicity pairs with sustainability, another word included in Co’s vocabulary; indeed, Danan and Kern recently announced they’re going to launch a new capsule collection called Natural World, which -as the title suggests- will be centred on sustainable practices and eco-friendliness. Each piece is made with GOTS-certified cotton and GOTS-certified organic linen, sustainable wool and recycled cashmere.
The intention is praiseworthy, as a new year is approaching, we can only hope more discourses and actions around sustainability would be even more relevant and significative.
