COVID-19: H&M will close eight stores in Italy

H&M, one of the giants of fast fashion, is about to close eight stores in Italy due to the coronavirus’ pandemic, which has forced the entire fashion system to stop abruptly.

While some retail stores will reopen on May 18 (phase two of the measures taken in Italy), H&M has announced that eight Italian stores will be closed for good, first two stores in Milan and one in Bari.

In addition, the stores in Udine, Vicenza, Bassano del Grappa, Gorizia and Grosseto will also be closed between August and September.

This strategy is part of a larger target, which also includes closing other stores in Europe and opening new ones in more favorable markets.

According to the press release disclosed by the company, the closures on part of the Italian territory respond to the attempt to: “optimize their store portfolio, add new online services and continue to offer customers the best shopping experience through different channels”.
