Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda: it is all about family (and DNA)

Dolce & Gabbana have had quite a special year this 2020. The creative due came back to Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana after 20 years of absence, they were among the first ones that went back to real fashion show in June, in the garden of Humanitas Hospital in Milan and they were always working against the virus, to both prevent its diffusion and enhance the medical care against it, but also wishing to achieve a balanced coexistence with it in order to go back to work ASAP.
However, Dolce & Gabbana’s aesthetic has remain unaltered: their maximalist approach to collections, abundant of looks and garments but also colours, fabrics, crystals, embroideries and so on, is still the same. It is a form of exuberance famously written in the DNA of a certain South of Italy, of which Dolce & Gabbana is the undisputed ambassador worldwide. If something can be said about Dolce & Gabbana is that their values and inspiration are never compromised. And, anyhow, coherence is a trendmark people (usually) like. The latest Alta Moda collection is born out of the same line of thought: Alta Moda Women has been presented on Monday 7th of December, followed by Alta gioielleria on the 8th and Alta Moda Men on the 9th. The titled of the entire collection – and of the three short movies presenting it to the public – is Gruppo di Famiglia in Alta Moda (Family Group in Haute Couture): it is the story of a decisively over the top family gathering: under the high ceilings of the golden rooms of the Dolce & Gabbana’s headquarter, generations meet and mix, creating a glittering and inspiring confusion.
Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda indeed, plays on the mix&match of different taste: feminine and masculine go together with no boundaries and super sexy mini dress alternate with masculine suits, velvet and embroidered gown and with a pair of denim short with a fluffy colourful top made of tulle. The elegance of certain garments is balanced by the presence of many street style’s pieces, such as the sneakers, the white V-shapes t-shirt and the pink-dyed hair of the models, which are made with the younger consumers of the brand in mind, always looking for fresh air in the concept of heritage. Jewelry is, as usual, of rare beauty.
