Dsquared2 Pre-Fall ’21

“We don’t want to look at something safe; we’re all bored stiff from being in this endless lockdown”, the Caten twins said to Vogue when speaking about the new pre-fall collection. “If there’s one thing we miss for sure, is travelling, and this collection makes this desire even more explicit.”

The vibrant colours, the impactful mix and match created on clothes, the dynamism wanted to inspire new ideas, to let the spirit go wild and free at least in the imagination, where there are no borders or lockdowns of any sort to stop us.

“There’s a bit of British energy, travelling to the countryside, being in nature, fishing, tending the garden”, the designers said. With this, there are also some tailoring touches carefully balanced with more edgy tones. To accentuate even more this joyful juxtaposition of elements, there were jewellery, charm bracelets, heirloom, lockets, pearls and all those sorts of antiques you would find in grandma’s wardrobe. “Probably because we’ve been watching The Crown!”, the twins explained.

Dsquared2’s model is someone who wants to have fun, a free-spirited woman who wants to dare and go see the world. That’s why she’s standing in front of a motorhome ready to leave this mess behind. The bandana prints, denim, leopard coats, dazzling mini dresses, lace leggings and high boots, a little bit of tartan and vinyl, clearly express this desire of evasion.

A bit of escapism, even if imagined, never hurt no one after all.
