Fall 2020 Couture Collection: Giambattista Valli.

Giambattista Valli has shown his Couture Collection through a short movie: clothes and atmosphere are, once again, the quintessence of Valli’s aesthetic.

On one side Paris. Gray and nebulous in winter, it retains its timeless grace that seems immobile and insensitive to the world around. A bit like nature, explains Valli, which has always been a great inspiration of his and this time more than ever, given the superiority and the reconstructive strength it showed during pandemic.

On the other hand the model Joan Smalls, wearing gracefully Couture dresses and shining because of their colours, their shapes and their airy textures. Giambattista Valli tries to take the essence of Nature and to channel it into his works, declining it in language he knows best, which is precisely Couture.

The collection alternates known cuts to pleasant novelties, such as the red organza mini dress – in an heart shape – or the two-pieces sequined dress, with a mermaid skirt and a crop t-shirt. Bows and polka dots are more present than ever. On a couple of occasions the looks are completed with face masks: perhaps a chic reference to the pandemic, or simply a decorative motif. Although their medical utility is doubtful, so cannot be said of their beauty, which is undisputed. And, after all, isn’t beauty going to save us all?
