The creative team behind Ralph&Russo, in the last turbulent period, had to work remotely, like the majority of other creatives around the world. Tamara Ralph however emphasizes, in the presentation of the collection, that the challenge brought more positive feelings than negative ones. First of all, it pushed the imagination towards territories that are still unexplored, and then increased exponentially the desire to improve, from several points of view, in order to achieve the best result possible.
The video presentation of the collection takes us inside the atelier and on the photo set, both the physical and the virtual one. The collection was indeed photographed in two phases: the traditional photo shooting with real models, preceded by the virtual shooting with the avatar Hauli, the true protagonist of the Couture Fall 2020 by Ralph&Russo. The three-dimensional female model traveled through the computers of the professionals of the team, wore their creations and visited, even if only virtually, the Seven Wonders of the World. Behind her figure we can see the Great Wall of China, Petra and the Taj Mahal: the beauty of landscapes and architectures interacts with the perfection of the clothes, in a continuous dialogue.
For Tamara Ralph the inspiration came first from the natural world, which we find in the floral prints and in the embroidery made with precious stones. The colours are those of the wildest forest, in shades of bright blue, pink and green. The decorations were made possible once again thanks to technology. What really emerges from Ralph&Russo’s Couture is the necessary and inspiring coexistence of nature and cultures, the work of the World on one side, and the work of Man on the other, which feed each other continuously. In a world where everything is possible on a digital platform, the physical need to get out and get in touch with real things is increasingly evident to all of us.
