German Fashion Week lands in Frankfurt am Main starting in the summer of 2021. The unexpected statement comes directly from Premium Group, the organizer of the event. The Fashion Week in Berlin boasted two catwalks a year since 2007 and in January it attracted around 70,000 visitors.
However, on top of the decision, there is a desire to redefine the concept of Fashion Week, in the name of technological innovation and sustainability, two very current issues in this period but which are not the only objectives that the executive has in mind.
The Mayor and City Treasurer Uwe Becker declared: “Securing this unique event for Frankfurt am Main is a huge opportunity to strengthen our image both nationally and internationally. In the next few years, the city is prepared to provide the necessary funds to show people from near and far that creative Frankfurt has what it takes to host a Fashion Week. Together with the State of Hesse and Messe Frankfurt, we, the City of Frankfurt, really want Frankfurt Fashion Week to get off to a flying start and make the city the fashion hotspot of Germany. And we will play our part in that.”
The Fashion Week will feature five platforms, three trade fair structures, two conferences, and more than 2000 participating designers. In addition to the Fashion Week, indeed, there will be many other events related to the world of fashion, including PREMIUM, the European fair that represents the pole for the world of business in womenswear and menswear. Then there is SEEK, one of the most innovative contemporary fashion fairs and NEONYT for sustainable fashion. Alongside these, the two conferences Fashionsustain and FASHIONTECH.
“Frankfurt Fashion Week is purposely aimed at a forward-looking, digital-savvy fashion and lifestyle community. B2B, B2C, B2P, P2P – all avenues are open”, stated Anita Tillmann, Managing Partner at Premium Group. “A synthesis of fashion, lifestyle, digital innovations and sustainability is always guaranteed to result in something new and unexpected. And that is exactly our aim. Unveiling the unexpected. Frankfurt is a fresh, new location for this. We’re looking forward to it”.
