Gucci donates half a million dollars to Unicef USA

The Florentine brand has recently donated to Unicefusa about 500,000 dollars to ensure the spread of the vaccine against covid-19 to the most vulnerable communities.

The Maison’s contribution does not stop here; Gucci will also contribute to the development of Unicef’s “21-day challenge” campaign from 5 to 26 December 2020, with the aim of doubling the donations collected by the organization.

The decision of the brand is part of a precise initiative launched last March, “We Are All In This Together“, through which it had donated 2 million euros to crowdfunding campaigns in support of the Italian Protezione Civile and Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund of the United Nations Foundation.

The latter initiative is therefore accompanied by a long series of projects in support of vulnerable communities, which also includes the Chime for Change campaign launched in May 2020 to contrast gender violence tragically increased during the pandemic.

In concrete terms, Gucci will support UNICEF in the planning of immunization campaigns, by collaborating on the development of local health skills and by sensitizing the community to ensure an efficient organization once vaccines will be available.

“In the next 21 days everyone is called to make their own contribution, small or big,” says CEO Matteo Bizzarri. “For each donation, Gucci will respond with an equal amount, up to a maximum of an additional $100,000. It is a global struggle, a global effort and the commitment must be global as well”.
