Hermès Menswear SS22

Double Game or Double- Jeu is the new menswear spring-summer collection by Véronique Nichanian for Hermès.
Speaking of the collection, Nichanian stressed how different and interesting it is in silhouettes and attitude. Including 41 looks, the presentation took place live for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic. So, the general atmosphere, created both by the collection and above all by the audience, was that of a return to normality, to reality.
Indeed, it is the real that the designer referred to in the creation of the pieces. “I prefer not to have too many garments, but to have the right ones”, she said.
Exhibited at Mobilier National, the collection includes very simple and functional garments, whose color palette ranges between the most natural shades of the earth; very peculiar are the gabardine coats and reversible parkas, as well as the double-breasted jackets and the jacket with zipper at the closure. The functionality of the clothes is precisely ensured by the reversible style.
Other characteristic effects are the works of shirts in canvas or the equestrian patterns typical of the Maison.
The more classic shades alternate with the more vibrant ones of red, yellow and green water. These are applied on cashemere sweaters and t-shirts with a dégradé effect. Among the fabrics used, leather and canvas stand out, especially on belts and shoes.
The technical wisdom of Nichanian is evident, and her ability to play with fabrics and styles creating a more elastic and fluid fashion. Far from the most ephemeral trends, Véronique Nichanian produces a timeless style.
