To celebrate the advent of the exhibition “Mademoiselle privé” open to the public from 15 October to 1° December in Tokyo, Sofia Coppola catches the essence of Mademoiselle Chanel in a short fashion film with the collaboration of new creative director of the Maison Virginie Viard.
The exhibition focuses on the creative universe of the Maison, an immersive experience in the most famous clothes, in the timeless creations of the iconic Mademoiselle and her successors.
“In homage to Mademoiselle” is the title of Coppola’s fashion film. The director has drawn mainly from the precious sources of archives, including images, photos and videos of some advertising and old fashion shows that have featured some iconic characters from the world of fashion and beyond.
“I tried to capture the essence of Chanel, what Coco started and that Karl and Virginie continued, managing to transfer the modern vision of Coco to women today.” Tells Sofia Coppola. “Chanel embodies the chic Parisian style, but I also tried to highlight the playfulness that Karl gave to the collections with his unique approach. I really enjoyed watching the filming of so many beautiful collections and iconic women who were part of Chanel’s history”.
