For the next hot season, Cate Holstein has reinvented Khaite’s style with timeless looks.
Against the background of an apartment on the Lower East Side, the designer has deployed her spring-summer 2022 collection; the simple frame of the show, perfectly matched the mood of the collection.
There weren’t many photographers capturing the details of the parade and the soft lights created a rather intimate atmosphere, away from the classic dazzling reflectors.
The intent of the designer is clear; go back to an era in which fashion was not yet too much acclaimed or publicized, a feeling that today is foreign but perhaps suitable for the post-pandemic world. Even the clothes reflect this intent in all their relaxation and comfort.
Wide silk coats, organza and leather evening dresses descend on the silhouette without forcing it, on the contrary, the relaxed look frees the shapes. The combination of evening dress and oversized coat evoke the image of an evening outing, perhaps the first after the lockdown; the neutral and elegant colors, however, dampen the composure of the output, transforming it into an activity without commitment, not too constructed and artificial.
And this is the Khaite’s spring-summer fashion, a collection with sporting details, suitable for the bright streets of New York, but also with a touch of glamour, such as the mini dress covered in glitter.
Holstein focuses on contrasts, the combination of different materials and their characteristic to the touch; the result is a combination of different fabrics, in a casual, sporty and relaxed style, which no longer relies on the canons existing before the pandemic.
