“LFW Fall 2020: Rejina Pyo”
After her beautiful collection Rejina Pyo presented last September (Spring 2020), we were looking forward to seeing this new Fall 2020. Expectations have not been let down, quite the contrary. The style is so different and new for her, it really amazed us once again. The outfits, also due to the gloomy setting of the show and the sound effects that accompanied it (the noisy engine of a motorcycle in the background started the show), are all very heavy. Not only for the colours, of rather dark shades, but also for the fabrics themselves. Shiny vinyl, snakeskin print and shimmering silk, just to name a few.
Post-apocalyptic is the term that Pyo wanted to suggest to the audience. And whether the result was reached or not, it is very clear that this is a much heavier collection than usual. However, what we really like about Rejina is her ability to create very clean collections that have something special and exuberant. Although she starts from a simple and wearable base, suitable for the metropolitan style of the modern woman, each outfit evolves and stratifies unexpectedly. For this collection we must underline the puffed sleeves, the technical and reflective materials, the laser-cut seams of some cardigans. The final result is impactful.
