LFW: Preen by Thornton Bregazzi Resort 2022
Preen by Thornton Bregazzi’s Resort 2022 collection aims at celebrating a rediscovery of freedom, that feeling of joy and happiness resurfacing on clothes with a 20s twist, from bright sequins, and from those delicate 80s collars clearly referencing to Lady Diana’s iconic looks.
The Resort 2022 collection is, indeed according to the designers, a way to celebrate a rebirth after months of living in fear and uncertainty. In London you can breathe a new air, now that the vaccination against the COVID-19 has taken hold. The city is waking up, restaurants are open again as well as cultural events – it is no coincidence that the wedding dress of Lady D is on display at Kensington Palace just these days.
The festive atmosphere is clearly perceptible in the floral printed dresses, in the balloon sleeves and in the delicate embroideries and drapes shaping the silhouettes.
Designers want to focus on collections consisting of a few pieces, thus exploiting all the material available to the studio, in order to reduce waste by giving new life to the fabrics previously used.
Emblematic in this sense are the large, romantic collars. In the same vein as sustainability, we also find sequined dresses and Aran knits.
The rest is a great patch work of mini dresses and evening gowns, above which the colors apparently match without logic. On the other hand, this is not the time for an extremely reasoned fashion, but brave.
