For his second Resort 2022 collection, Nicolas Ghesquière organized a show at Axe Majeur. The Paris park, conceived by the brilliant mind of the Israeli environmental artist Dani Karavan, perfectly communicates the utopian and futuristic atmosphere of the collection.
Those who follow Ghesquière and his work at the Maison Vuitton, will know his fascination for sci-fi, for futuristic scenarios that wink at the works of Courrèges in the 1960s.
The journey into space, as stated by Ghesquière, inspired anachronistic prints and the use of vinyl, as well as structured and volume-filled silhouettes.
The result is a collection with a clear sporty and functional mould, anchored to today’s fashion paradigms, always with a look to the future. “It’s a very optimistic, joyful collection. There’s a jubilance to it”, he explained.
This is evident in the colorful prints, the festive cocktail dresses, the feathery sleeves on the sweaters and the midi skirts.
The careful use of leather and the different cuts applied to it create a bold look, clearly militaristic, whose severity is however diluted by vibrant and intense colors, as well as shapes with more volume and depth.
