A chat with the actress Madison Shamoun

Being positive about your potential and future possibilities is imperative if you want to achieve a lot out of life, and Madison Shamoun puts that into practice very well. With the highly anticipated Amazon Original series, The Lake and other major roles, we have to think this young actress will go a long way. We talked to her about her beginnings, her dreams and future plans!
When was your passion for cinema born? Have you always dreamed of becoming an actress or did you have other projects in mind?
I think I’ve always been a performer. I used to put on plays in my neighborhood and force my family to watch. I was that kid that would watch a movie 100 times so I could memorize every line. If I wasn’t an actress though I think I would’ve gone to law school.
In your upcoming projects we find the highly anticipated Amazon Original series, The Lake, starring Julia Stiles, The CW’s All American, 7 Minutes In Hell and The Restart. We don’t want to ask you which role you preferred, but do you have any fun memories to share with us from the sets?
I could not stop laughing while shooting that last scene with Jordan, at the end of ep 101. It was like Midnight after a long day, and I think we maybe got 1 good take. I felt so bad, but I had major delirium giggles.
Speaking of self-esteem, could you list what women should do to feel prouder of themselves and their bodies?
A therapist once told me that you should stare at yourself in the mirror every day and say positive things about your body/thank your body. It can start internally too, for example, “I love and am grateful for my lungs today for helping me breathe.” If I’m having a body dysmorphic day, I try to do exercises like that.

What is the most precious memory you have from working in the environment? What do you think are the challenges of this business today?
Oh wow I don’t think I could pick just one moment! But after we wrapped The Lake, Jordan and I had a big hug, and it was so bittersweet. And the industry is constantly changing! I think the change itself is an ongoing challenge.
Who is the director or actress / actor you hope to work with in the future?
SO many people, where to begin. I’d love to be directed by Greta Gerwig or Tim Burton! I had a dream I was in a dark retelling of Chekhov’s Three Sisters with Zendaya and Zoe Kravitz. That would be insane if that came true! And if Halle Berry could play our mom that would be an absolute dream.
Describe the role of your dreams:
Role of my dreams?! Impossible to say, I want to do everything! I want to be in an A24 drama horror, be the first female African American to lead a Marvel superhero movie. I’d love to be in a Pixar movie, Disney live action remake, I mean the list goes on.
What do you think are the powers of social media in addressing relevant issues of our generation?
The great thing about social media is that it really is a form of documentation. And because it can happen in real time, I think it’s such a quick way to get the word out about anything.

Do you have any special morning rituals to start the day on the right way?
Yes! I love to do my morning skincare routine, drink some celery juice, make a smoothie, workout, and then scroll on all the platforms a bit before work!
