Free from the constraints of the Parisian calendar, the man Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello debuted with a short video titled No Matter How Long The Night Is.
The video, directed by Nathalie Canguilhem, takes us on a six-minute journey through the most symbolic monuments of Paris, New York, and Shanghai, dancing and running on the rooftops together with the models.
Conceived as a virtual and physical experience, the creative director supervised every detail of the final performance, from music, clips in augmented reality, 3D lenticular images, up to the garments.
What immediately catches the eye is the clothes’ functionality and plasticity, which adapt to the sudden movements of the body, suggesting versatility and freedom in movements that erode the boundaries of rigidity usually associated with menswear.
Vaccarello offers a series of garments that depict a nonostentatious luxury, mixing classic elements with new shapes, cuts, colors, and Haute embroidery. The skinny pants this time are accompanied by softer shapes of the pleated pants. We also can admire blazers, bomber jackets, and shirts with tropical textures, coats, and shirts up to the ankle embellished with embroidery and interesting applications.
The fluid shapes evoke a relaxed, playful, and light elegance, in full glam-rock and revolutionary Saint Laurent style.
