“MFW Fall 2020: Emporio Armani”

It is difficult to talk about this Emporio Armani collection without starting from the words of Giorgio Armani himself, during the press conference that followed the fashion show. According to what the designer said, this Autumn 2020 collection is a dissertation on the image of the woman, her social position and the abuses that are still linked to her body despite all. There are many ways to abuse of a woman, Armani says, among others the use of certain clothes to describe her. This is how the collection is born, certainly not meant to be the focus of male gaze in the old sense of the term. Suits, dresses and coats on the runway were an alternation of lights and shadows, giving ease to the female body, enhancing it without any sexual implications.
Armani’s strength, we all know, lies in the ability to create timeless looks. Elegance and naturalness, the maximum of refinement and nonchalance of those who own their body in any situation. Armani started with men’s fashion and for some years now has been instilling the same philosophy in womenswear. Thank goodness. About halfway, the collection takes a decidedly scenic turn. Cocktail dresses are in precious bottle green slipped fabric or black velvet. There are large floral applications, stripes of curled fabric falling on the shoulders and inserts in very fine lace. Till the mini evening dresses in sequins and coloured lurex.
