“MFW Fall 2020: Gucci”

Milan opens its doors to the fashion world and it does it with the Gucci Autumn Winter 2020 show – which is, for once, at the opening of the calendar and not at the end of it. Alessandro Michele reached a point where he no longer needs to prove anything. His style is clear and defined: within a specific aesthetic, the creative director allows himself to follow his own inspirations freely. Full freedom indeed, which is what he has always wanted, granted to him because he is one of the few able to read events and protagonists of this new, turbulent millennium.
This time again the story has a background on which it unraveled. Behind the models are the creators of the collection, tailors, craftsmen, many infinitesimal figures who make a difference with their daily work. Putting the backstage on stage is a winning action – demonstrated by PierPaolo Piccioli for Valentino. And it is important as well, because it reminds us that fashion is made of people, work, labor and materials, not just images.
All this rhymes with Quality. The fashion show itself seemed slightly more feminine than usual and for a moment the models gave us the idea of paper dolls, dressed and accessorized by the imagination of a stylist who does not want to abandon his childhood.
