“MFW Fall 2020: Marni”

Marni by Francesco Risso Autumn 2020 collection makes patchwork and collage its trend mark element. Ethical, as well as beautiful, this choice is due to the desire to create the entire collection with waste materials from Marni production centers. Seams and stitches are clearly visible and reminiscent of a childish work of collage: it is important that the creative process is visible. The playful note of the collection also reverberates in the underlying theme, which is Alice in Wonderland. It seems that we are all Alice and Wonderland is the distorted world in which we walk every day.
Risso seems divided between the phantasmagoria of a dream world and the need to return to reality. What is better we don’t know yet. However, the collection brings some hope that the two worlds are not mutually exclusive. Each garment is incredible and unique. It is not so much about outfits in this show, but about single pieces, which are capable of making sense on their own, of holding up an entire look without losing any sense.
