MFW Fall 2021: Sportmax

Of the whole Max Mara group, Sportmax is certainly the most avant-garde brand. It is always up-to-date and beyond, and it is not afraid to dare, which is why we like it so much. For the Fall-Winter 2021 collection, Sportmax offered a futuristic collection, which takes inspiration from many past models and draws a driving force from each of them.
The silhouettes remind us of the 90s, but also the statuary Greek and Roman figures; the tailoring is perfect, and for this reason, it breaks down and evolves into ultra-modern pieces, which also play a lot on the unfinished (more than one jacket has frayed edges); the touches of acid colour on the sunglasses give additional energy. The atmosphere is grunge and effortless.
Even in the case of Sportmax, the figures are elongated and fluctuating – we have already seen it elsewhere, this season, and this is a clear sign of a trend that is getting stronger and stronger. The upward movement is created by the elongated blazers, with shaped shoulder straps, but also by the knitwear suits with very long and slim sleeves and trousers. Over-the-knee boots and matching turtlenecks become a second skin that redraws the boundaries of the body.

The only exception is the electric blue dress, which, at the end of the show, invades the catwalk: it is made of reflective tech material, and the reflections of light create purple streaks. It is worn with black knitted leggings. Another detail that we liked a lot is the body jewel of the latest look, completely white but embellished with Swarovski threads and chains.
