Patchwork and creative chaos are two already seen expedients of Francesco Risso’s collections for Marni. The designer likes to experiment since some times, with discarded fabrics, saved pieces and bizzarre ensembles, put together in order to show, not only the connection between ideas, but especially the possibility of the encounter between every type of things, even the most diverse ones.
For the Spring 2021 collection, which has been devised and put together, painfully, during the lockdown, the same idea of encounter is shown not only through clothes, but also through people. Let us explain it better.
Risso himself described the collection as a collective work, the research for freedom which is always better when done together. Maybe also because the freedom Risso is aiming to reach is the freedom we have lost, to meet, to touch each other and to breath together with no fear and obstacles. Anyways, in the impossibility of going back to this type of freedom, Marni gives us the chance of experiment the freedom of our body.
Looks are put together for the modern sailors of the metropolitan cities of the world, who need comfortable clothes and many layers. They also need to bring along colours and joy, to better survive to the gray landscape, to paint with flowers, stripes and hopefully words the walls all around.
