Milan Fashion Week: Versace SS21

Donatella Versace is surely one of the most iconic figure of the Italian fashion system. Apart from this, she is also one of the most cheerful and positive ones: her joy can be seen in everything she produced, her attraction fro everything that is alive, sensual and human condenses in a strong characteristic of the brand. The Spring 2021 collection is not less. It is inspired by the Atlantis myth, the lost city at the bottom of the sea where life survived even in the most precarious and difficult situation. The collection is also a reminiscence of Gianni Versace’s Spring 1992.

The models are sea creatures coming to us to take us with them. Long loose dresses, colourful details, precious jewels and chains. Everything is sensual: mermaids are very sensual creatures after all. The plissé dresses are our favourites and we are already envisioning them during a summer party at the poolside. The mini dresses in velvet and curled plissé hems are beautiful too, in their resemblance of sea bottom and its foliage. Some pieces are also enriched with jewel-applications in the form of starfish.

The collection is rich and it is the symbol of the never-fading joy de vivre of Donatella. During the press conference, the designer herself underlined the first concern of the brand to be more and more inclusive. The casting of the SS21 show is for sure a start.
