New York Fashion Week: Khaite SS21

“Growth is never easy” says Catherine Holstein, Khaite’s designer, presenting her Spring 2021 collection. The lookbook has dark tones, it is combative and strong. To selected buyers and editors the brand will also send presentation boxes, with interactive lookbooks, fabrics and an augmented reality experience which brings Khaite’s shoes straight to the living room. According to Holstein, hard times ask for hard clothes, which make us feel protected along the way.

There is then leather, a touch of suede,  wrapping curled tops and mini and maxi dresses without frills, but with big round shoulders. In addition, there are some knitted midi dresses and thick cashmere sweaters which will make everybody happy in the colder summer evenings. A private and silent sensuality is still present. We like especially the tight corsages, but also the loose shirts worn casually open, which transmit self love.

Pictures are artworks aim to the movement, with an underground aesthetic in gloomy colours. Women, according to Khaite, will be pleased to buy this collection, clean and energetic, because these garments will stay with them a long way. Long lasting pieces, whose value also depend on the moment they were made, forever bounded in our memory.
