Paris Fashion Week: Altuzarra SS21

Altuzarra lived the creation of his Spring 2021 collection as a sort of mental process, involving our present but, especially, our future, the environment around us but also the one we have inside our spirit, and of course our wardrobe. During the lockdown, the designer read Dune, the novel by Frank Herbert that is going to be re-adapt for the second time in a movie. At the center of the story there is the world of tomorrow – futuristic and even bigger than the one we know today, since it comprehends other planets and galaxies. Many things are different, starting from the way people dress.

Our conditions are changing as well, even if they’re moving slower and gradually, and they do not have a hard impact on our daily life. Thus, Altuzarra changes its aesthetic offer, with the new goal of creating an essential wardrobe for tomorrow. It is made of dresses, suits and light skirts, enveloping and wide at the same time. Sensuality is just whispered, jewelry and accessories are point of lights on the otherwise crispy and porose cloths. Buttons are jewels in their own right, made in pearl and put on all the length of garments: the wearer can chose how much to unbuttoned and how much skin leave visible. Our favourite combo is the draped midi skirt worn with the knitted top, soft and performed in the same time.

Comfort is, also for Altuzarra, an imperative that cannot be underestimated. It comes before anything else and, because of its very nature, it is accommodating with sensual shapes, elegant dresses and more formal suits. Borders are, after all, disappearing, and our private and working life is coming together.
