Paris Fashion Week: Elie Saab SS21

Elie Saab’s Spring 2021 collection is titled “A New Dawn” and is about new beginning. There was no better time than now to speak about restart, and we are not referring to the pandemic only even if it has a great role in the picture, for obvious reasons. Saab comes from Lebanon and the country is right now going through a socio-political crisis like never before. In the meantime, Saab became grandfather for the first time and it looks like all the events in the world are encountering the designer’s personal life, giving birth the next Spring collection.
He said that “Lebanese people are always looking forward, we live for tomorrow and plan for everything to be better and more beautiful”. Each aspect of the collection, and of its presentation, has a symbolic meaning. The nature in the background, first marked by the golden tone of the grass burnet by the sun and then by the opalescent gray of the fog, far near the mountains, recalls the need for freedom.
There is plenty of white, which is symbol for purity but also serenity. Red for blood and green for the leaves, but also small embroidered flowers, very sophisticated. Maybe, all the events surrounding Saab are making his eye for beauty even more acute. We are just happy he is sharing his renewed vision with us, because we needed it.
