Paris Fashion Week: Isabel Marant SS21
On the contrary of many fashion designers who changed, even slightly, their aesthetic in the past few months, due to the pandemic, Isabel Marant decided to stay true to her style. We are not here to say what is right and what is not and, after all, what does it even mean that something is right? There is no correct path to follow right now, and this is also one of the meanings behind Marant’s Spring 2021. While presenting her collection, the designer declared her intention to open up the fashion system to as many people as possible, in order for it to be an occasion to meet and inspire each other, instead of a pleasure dedicated for a small part of the world.
Fashion is also an occasion for joy, especially in such turbulent times. The collection is vitamin, fun and full of energy. As a background there is, as usual, Marant’s infatuation with the 80s and their ultimate meeting place, which is the night club. Joy is therefore the password, but this Spring 2021 seems to push a bit more on this concept, trying to bring it in the daily life too. Heralds to it are the abundance of metallized fabric, butterfly-shaped tops, the big jumpsuit with heart print. But accessories as well, such as the star-shaped earrings.
Even if we do not have any party waiting for us – at least, not in the near future – this collection makes us dream of a powerful and shiny spring, and we hope it will bring us luck for the year to come.
