Paris Fashion Week: Vivienne Westwood SS21

The Spring 2021 collection by Vivienne Westwood has been realized by Andreas Kronthaler, the designer’s husband and long time collaborator in the creative production of the eponymous brand. The lookbook has been shot by him with a total of four models, among which Vivienne and he himself. This is also why the collection feels to us as particularly personal, as it was the result of a afternoon spent at home, arranging outfits and makeup with friends, photographing each other in irreverent positions.
The collection is eclectic, colourful, joyous and unapologetically sensual. Dresses, long and short, are arranged with curls and ruffles, as they were made one moment before being photographed. Then, there are prints: flowers, squares, tartan and a t-shirt made with a map by Buy local flyer – cuts of fabrics and different materials put together at home according to inspiration.

Vivienne Westwood is always about revolution. In every collection, fun mixes with deep meanings and social engagement on various levels. According to our own interpretation, the Spring 2021 is the invitation to revalue what we have around us, to put things together and look at them with different eyes every day. It is a commitment for the environment, but also a way to wake up our sleepy imagination. The collection can be interpreted in many different ways, but this is the real beauty of fashion, isn’t it? It becomes what you wish and there is no more flexible art than this.
