“PFW Fall 2020: Balmain”

While Balmain’s Fall 2020 collection is a very sweet letter to the city of Paris and its peculiarities, on the other it is also a personal and private speech by designer Olivier Rousteing with himself. France and its heritage are a not indifferent background in Balmain’s production, but like all great creative minds, it is difficult for Rousteing to leave out his own personal story. Thus, the collection is a sort of hybrid.

The Balmain woman always has something scenographic and sensual, and also in this collection the belts mark the waist and accentuate the hourglass shape of the female body, while the boots reach mid-thigh and make the legs very long. Not to mention the tops that look wet and literally glued to the body. However, it is not a veiled sensuality, nor a delicate one. Rather, each look has an inner strength that is all to be discovered and channeled. We really like. Just as we really like the foulard print on jackets, shirts and skirts. The best comes with evening dresses, which are divided into two completely different floors. On one side the black cocktail dress with ruffles, on the other the monochromatic latex suits. Très chic.
