There are designers who make clothes and there are designers who make outfits, and there is Hedi Slimane who does both. Impeccably cut garments, from blazers to coats and jeans. But the incredible thing about such a vast collection (111 outfits in total) is consistency on the one hand and inventiveness on the other. Each outfit is different and yet all of them are the perfect tracing of an aesthetic firmly defined. Celine’s collection is all about normality. Everyday clothes: jeans or leather pants or checked shorts; soft blouses, vests or coats that fall perfectly along the figure; suede ankle boots, sunglasses and decidedly 70s hairstyles. A modern aftertaste everywhere. If Philo’s Celine was a safe choice for all its loyal buyers, the same can be said of the one by Slimane.
The woman she talks about is well defined indeed: modern, active, vaguely tomboy, but still in love with clothes for their power to make her feel unique. Celine basically sells a way of being, a story that anyone would like to be part of. Obviously there is some evening proposals as well, dresses that are a little more special than others. Sparkling fabrics, satin applications, metallic flower patterns. If you are looking for a way of being chic, casual and irresistible at the same time, trust Celine and you are safe.
