“PFW Fall 2020: Maison Margiela”

Galliano is enthusiastic and full of life (a bit like us, during this wonderful Paris Fashion Week) and it shines through his creations for Maison Martin Margiela Fall 2020 but also through his after show words speech – coming in form of Podcast. How nice is to be inspired, to look to the past and seeing the future, to bring new life to wonderful fabrics and garments that do not deserve to end up forgotten after a season or two. The world of fashion is going fast and it is perhaps time for some second thoughts on our behavior. Margiela has always developed a very profound discourse about clothes in general – how they are designed, how they are made, how they are worn. In its creative laboratory nothing get lost, everything has another chance and is reinvented in a sensational spiral of inspiration.
If there is nothing new to invent, true luxury today lies in things that are reborn. Like the final dress of the collection, reminiscent of the flapper style of the 1920s which is simply wonderful in its fragile features. “Recicla” is the name of the label Galliano designed for his creations, as well as “Replica” was the one adopted by Martin Margiela at the beginning of his adventure. The collection is strong, dynamic, colourful, special. What really matters is that all of this comes from within, from clothes that have a soul, which has been defined by the history, culture and artisan hands behind them. If there is to be a definition of luxury, this is the best we can think of.
