Champion, the iconic American sportswear brand, collaborates with Australian influencers Philip O’Donahoo and Jaida The Creator on the new green collection Re: Bound. The collection is made up of 45% recycled cotton obtained from waste materials. The recycled cotton is then combined with virgin cotton from which a new sustainable yarn is created.
Re: Bound will include the classic pieces of Champion: sweatshirts, hats, tote bags, t-shirts and sweaters, in full American 90s style. In a press release disclosed by the group, the brand divulges its long-term objectives, increasingly oriented towards a sustainable perspective. “Pioneering products is our legacy. Protecting the planet is our long game. “Re:Bound is our first step, and we’re just getting started.”
Indeed, Champion is not the first sportswear brand to undertake this new direction; sports giants Adidas and Nike have already set their goals for greater transparency in their production chain. Just remember the recent collaboration that saw Allbirds and Adidas together to reduce carbon emissions of the footwear industry.
The Australian influencers will be the representatives of the collection; previously, they had already collaborated with HoMIE, a Melbourne-based brand for the ReChampion collection, which featured some products made with recycled materials.
