Victoria Beckham had clear ideas when creating the pre- spring-summer 2021 collection. “When we started to work on the resort, we knew the first drop was going to be in December. And we thought, well, by then everyone’s going to be out of their leggings, and actually want to get dressed and go out,” she told Vogue.
Indeed, the collection Resort 2021 shows clothes designed primarily to go out, an image that has recently taken on a particular charm precisely because of the lockdown that has forced us to stay home for several months.
Among the various images and inspirations, to prevail in Beckham’s moodboard there were those of David Bowie and of the glam rock period, sporting gold-flecked lamé pinstripes and shrunken rainbow-striped Lurex sweaters. There are also minimal cut-dresses, such as the one in black silk woven on the back, very elegant in its simplicity, and the red dress with the 80s-style cavalier collar. The 70s influences are clearly seen in the high-waisted denim flares with patch pockets.
Even if for the moment the parties seem a mirage, nobody forbids us to dream a little and to embellish our daily outfits with some lively detail signed by VVB.
