With “Beirut: The Sacred Source“, the Lebanese designer expressed closeness to his city, recently scenery of a tragedy.

“After the explosion, I realized that Beirut needed every one of us, all the Lebanese who have been successful in the world and had any influence anywhere, to help our country create beauty again” the designer declared. “We are tired of just standing there talking about the explosion. We must remind ourselves that Beirut is one of the most beautiful places in the world to live”.

The seven-minute short video by Mounia Akl is now online, as well as the attached photoshoot by Patrick Sawaya, taking place in the breath-taking landscapes of the mountains of Faqra, the seat of the ancient Roman temple dedicated to Adonis.

The models look like nymphs dressed in blue muslin and powder pink, feathers, and sequins that reflect the light filtering through the trees. They walk, play hide and seek, admire the nature that surrounds them and blend with it, symbolizing a feeling of rebirth and rediscovery of simple things, away from the chaos of the city.

According to the designer’s vision, every dress, every model who wears it represents Beirut, thus becoming a symbol of the beauties of the city.
