On the sinuous and endless curves of the desert, Anthony Vaccarello presented the Saint Laurent summer collection 2021. “I Wish You Were Here”, the title of the collection wants to celebrate movement and freedom. Like a dream with open eyes, fashion reigns untamed, free from the reins of reason.
In a world that today is confined to physical and spatial limits imposed by the pandemic, Vaccarello’s fluid and anarchist design manage for a few minutes to overcome the same boundaries to which the fashion world is also subjected, presenting not only garments that perfectly reflect – as always, on the other hand – the style and rebellious spirit of Saint Laurent but offering us a wider, infinite vision, albeit inserted in the digital frame.
After a breathtaking show on the Eiffel Tower, it is precisely the ridge of a mountain of sand that serves as a catwalk for this collection, a truly breathtaking atmosphere that does not distract attention from the garments, indeed, enhances its aspects and visual pathos.
On the dreamlike notes of SebastiAN, the garments unfold elegantly along the soft and sinuous path of the desert.
There is certainly no lack of long dresses with a squared and severe cut, black is, as always, the predominant colour, to which occasional splashes of pink, red, yellow and ochre are added. Sportswear influences are very common, with strictly black jumpsuits, shorts with knee cut and bodies.
In the last minutes of the show, the spectator is immersed in a nocturnal atmosphere, as the set changes as it would happen in a theatrical show. The fire along the catwalk is the only light point that dimly illuminates the clothes, but the expressive power is such that they shine with their own light.
