Suzy Menkes lascia Vogue International

Dopo sei anni alla redazione di Vogue International, Suzy Menkes ha annunciato sul suo profilo Instagram la prossima dipartita in ottobre. Una delle più autorevoli voci della moda, per anni la Menkes ha raccontato le sfilate dal front row con spirito e stile inconfondibili. 

La Condé Nast, il gruppo editoriale che possiede altre celebri riviste di moda, ha annullato la sua “CNI Luxury Conference”, che si sarebbe dovuta tenere il 9 e 10 dicembre 2020 a Vienna. In ogni caso, l’annullamento della conferenza risponde anche alla necessità di chiarire come avverranno tali eventi a seguito della pandemia da COVID-19.  La redattrice lascerà Vogue International dopo le prossime sfilate autunnali.

After six years at Condé Nast, I will be leaving in October, after attending and reporting on the next season of shows, whether physical or virtual. I have often said that change is the essence of fashion. How true that is! After a career at the Herald Tribune and New York Times, I joined Condé Nast in 2014, leaping into the digital world. During my time at Vogue, I have enjoyed seeing the evolution and development of the fashion and creative industry – from reporting on shows and posting here on Instagram, to organising and running some of the greatest conferences and events. I have enjoyed every moment of my time as Editor, Vogue International, and I am proud of everything I have achieved at the company. I am grateful to all the industry insiders I have worked with, and of course my entire team at Condé Nast, especially Adrian Ting @a_j_ting and Natasha Cowan @tashonfash, who have worked with me for ten years. And I am grateful to those who follow my Instagram, and those who listen to my new podcast series. The current global situation has given me – and all of us – pause for reflection. And so it is time for a new adventure, which I look forward to with excitement. I will continue to write, post, record, and bring together the industry – watch this space (and SuzyMenkes.com) for the next stage of my career! Suzy Menkes ha alle spalle una carriera esemplare, disseminata di articoli e recensioni taglienti, accattivanti e mai vincolate da costrizioni editoriali. Il suo stile personale, unico nel suo genere, l’ha resa se possibile ancora più iconica. Ha mosso i suoi primi passi all’International Herald Tribune e poi al New York Times, per poi approdare alla Condé Nast nel 2014. Tra i tanti riconoscimenti, figura ovviamente la sua nomina di Cavaliere della Legion d’Onore francese per la sua fiorente attività giornalistica nel mondo della moda. Ha persino ottenuto le chiavi della città di Firenze dal sindaco Dario Nardella nel 2015 durante una Luxury Conference a Palazzo Vecchio.

Ad ogni modo, Suzy non intende di certo fermarsi, al contrario si prepara alla sua ennesima svolta professionale. Infatti, tra le tante cose in programma, sta anche pensando alla possibile pubblicazione di uno o due libri contenenti foto, reportage e articoli disseminati nell’arco di più di 30 anni.

“La situazione attuale mi ha permesso, e ha permesso a tutti noi, di darsi il tempo per riflettere. Ora è il momento di intraprendere una nuova avventura, che non vedo l’ora di iniziare.
