President of CBI- Camera Buyer Italia Francesco Tombolini recently gave an
interview on Fashion Network in which he reproposed what he had previously
declared to Corriere della Sera, namely to postpone the release of the Spring-Summer 2020 collections, and therefore to stop the fashion system for about 6 months, thus giving it time to propose new initiatives and solutions to face the post- Covid-19 crisis.
Tombolini is currently in conversation with CNMI to find some solutions to deal with the imminent crisis, among these he has listed three of them to the Fashion Network: “[…] capitalization of Spring-Summer and Autumn-Winter 2020 stocks, to find not to have large write-downs in the financial statements and to be able to value the inventories; the tax exemption of all digital expenses; tax exemption from taxable income for all digital sales. “
Furthermore, according to what was declared by the president of Camera Buyer Italia, in the current lockdown situation e-commerce is unable to cover the losses suffered due to the closure of the stores, indeed, it reveals a more or less static pace.
There are many uncertainties about the future, but it is clear from Tombolini’s words that the fashion system must find new solutions capable of dealing with an event of this magnitude.
