Vitra, the Swiss house specialized in the production of furniture and retail environments, has announced the presentation of the installation made in collaboration with Virgil Abloh, creative director of French Maison Louis Vuitton. The installation is presented at the fire station in Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein from the 12th of June until the 31st of July 2019.

This latest collaboration is not only a celebration of elegance and craftsmanship of interior design, but it also represents the desire to enquire about the latest social themes.
The story imagined by Virgil Abloh sees an adolescent within his familiar surroundings. These creations want to induce the visitor to question him or herself about the evolution of technology and how much this affects the changes in our society and in our homes. Furthermore, the designer wants us to think about how the environmental themes, nowadays being so relevant, determine our decisions, our paths and our tastes.

Abloh’s interest in social and cultural subjects is not new, indeed in his creations, being them about fashion or design, he always tries to start a dialogue between art and the themes that he wants to highlight the most and that also concern our society. The architect, designer and artist will also launch two products originally made by Jean Prouvé and a new product.

This one is the Ceramic Block; in occasion of the exhibition 150 ceramic block have been made with a serial number and united together to form a wall. Each time a block is sold, it is removed from the wall and this changes, as a reflection of the mutable structure of tomorrow, its unpredictability and fluidity.

The second object is the Petite Potence, made by Jean Prouvé in 1947 and brought to our times by Abloh, who added a LED lighting and coloured the lamp with a vibrant orange.

The third object is the Anthony chair always made by Jean Prouvé in the early 1950s for the Cité Universitaire in Anthony, near Paris. Virgil Abloh modernized it with a plexiglass structure to give visibility to the metallic backing always coloured in orange.
These products in limited edition were conceived as a spin-off of the exhibition and can be bought at Vitra Campus and online exclusively in Europe, starting from the 12th of June 2019.
