Zalando implements sustainability’s parameter

In collaboration with Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) and Higg Co, Zalando becomes the first retailer to use an innovative system that allows to evaluate the sustainability of the brands that sell their products on its fashion retailer’s platform.

This new version of the SAC promotes the Higg Brand & Retail Module (Higg Brm) model.

This model helps both brands and retailers to determine individual and sector challenges in terms of sustainability, taking care of criteria that include not only environmental but also social and economic sustainability; ethical, environmental and social parameters serve as a model, including the system for evaluating fair wages and carbon dioxide emissions.

It is certainly a great step forward, the one promoted by Zalando, which by adopting this strategy makes concrete the will to create a platform of diversified brands but equally united in performing ethical and environmental practices.
