Paris Fashion Week: Dries Van Noten SS21
Dries Van Noten’s Spring 2021 collection has been presented with a lookbook, like many others this season. Van Noten made an additional effort while creating, because he had in mind the final medium through which the collection would have been shared, i.e. pictures. This is an important consideration that would deserve more space: not everybody thinks about it, but a fashion show is different from a lookbook, as much as real life is different from social media. Thus, the way garments appeared is different too.
The collection brings together womenswear and menswear fluidly. Every piece is suitable for both, like the soft caban, shorts and bermuda pants, dresses in psychedelic prints. There are some interesting pieces made with a net-like fabric, and there is also a patchwork skirt, realized with the arrangement of several fabrics put together to form flowers. The power of the collection is undisputed and the video accompanying the photos is explicative: the models dance on a strident song while disco lights create shapes of colours on them.
