Bo Yokely exclusive interview

Bo Yokely looks just like the classic man everyone could wish for. He is handsome, he is in love with his family and has an incredible career. Sorry for you though, because he has already found love for a long time, and since then he and his wife Olivia have always been together. Bo started by modeling and began working in the film business with roles in major productions, such as “Guardians of the Galaxy 2”. He came to the turning point of his career with the Netflix original film “Nappily Ever After” in 2018. And as if that weren’t enough, he got hooked on the reality of the production. He now has four feature films and two television series to his credit. Let’s find out more about him together!

We know that before you became an actor you were a model. How did your career start?

I was actually working at Abercrombie and Fitch and a modeling agent found me and said that he wanted to sign me.

Have you always wanted to be an actor? Was there a particular transition from fashion to cinema?

Yes, I suppose I did always want to be an actor, but it was unclear as to how to be an actor. And with the modeling world and acting world closely correlated, it was a rather simple transition for me.

You started out with pilot roles in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Are there any funny set memories you’d like to share with us?

The whole shoot we had to wear literal ponchos to even step outside, because the media was at the lot wall snapping pictures of what was going on. While there, a leaked photo was taken of the fighter pilots, which of course was the role I was playing.

When did you decide to also become a producer? How was the transition from acting?

I always wanted to be a producer because I want to have a voice in the room when decisions are being made. It was a really smooth easy move to become a producer from just being an actor since both jobs feed each other.

What was it like being in production the first time? Were there any difficulties you did not expect?

It was so exciting and terrifying at the same time. To know that the buck stops with you is a lot of pressure, but I have always done my best work when the pressure is high. To be honest the team around me really cut down the problem possibilities and allowed me to focus on key features that only I could sort out.

How did you spend your quarantine days during the pandemic? We know you recently had a beautiful baby girl, having a beautiful family sure helps in these situations.

Yes absolutely! Having our first child, Evie, really made the pandemic manageable. She is such a great baby, and I have the best wife who is always there to help out when I don’t know what I’m doing. I couldn’t do what I do without her.

We have seen that you are passionate about sports and horse riding. Being originally from North Carolina, we can only imagine what great rides you will have had as a kid. American or English riding? 🙂

American riding is what I prefer for sure, but both are essential. Riding where I’m from is a basic need at a young age, and I was very fortunate to be afforded great opportunities to ride as much as I wanted.

Is there any advice you would give to young actors?

To have what others don’t have, you must do what others will not do. Don’t expect anything to just happen for you…it’s a fight every day, but one worth fighting for.
