Paris Fashion Week: Miu Miu SS21

Miu Miu has always been a rather “childlike” brand, if we may say so. It is the little brother of Prada – we should say sister, right? – and it is, in this sense, the spokesperson of the childish, playful and easily flammable spirit of Miuccia Prada. If Prada is, for the designer, the mean for an elegant, serious but always irreverent style, a sort of “uniform” and she herself said in a (now very famous) interview some days ago for the modern women, Miu Miu is, on the other side, her way of indulging in mini dresses and lace, pink and tasty details and fresh imagery.

So the Spring 2021 collection is freely inspired by the spirit of the adolescence, with its teenaged wardrobe. Young girls go to school, do extra activities in their free time, have friends and secret relationships and millions of dreams for the future. They do not have a defined style because they are in transition, in a magic age where everything is just taking shape. Teenagers’ style many times answers to they daily needs and this is why the collection mixes pleated skirts from school uniforms with bomber jackets or elegant coats, t-shirts with small tops in transparent ruffled fabric, what looks like a thermal top with a voluminous yellow skirt.

Formal and informal have no boundaries, sporty garments go with tailored ones. There always is a indefinable aftertaste in Prada’s creations: her style is perfect but she is a natural, as if nothing she does is forced. Indeed like teenagers, whose light hearth makes them shine even more in their your blowing beauty.
