“When Silence Burns” editorial
The time has come when silence is a luxury we can no longer afford.
While a people is being erased, piece by piece, the world keeps moving — distracted, aesthetic, hyperconnected. Images of destruction slip between a reel and an ad campaign, and indifference becomes the real weapon of mass destruction.
I created these images as a small gesture of resistance. Not to sensationalise the tragedy, but to remind us that beauty without conscience is merely decoration. We saw that some influencers were invited (and went) to the Gaza Strip in August to take photos and show that everything was fine.
We now live between the surreal and the grotesque. Thinking about fashion, glitz and luxury while we see a country dying before our eyes.
And when there is nothing left to destroy, perhaps someone will pose among the ruins, calling it art, like these images you see here, which, fortunately, are only fiction. Fiction, but they show a human side that is no longer capable of empathising with anything. I would not be surprised if, sooner or later, something like this actually happened.
