Fendi menswear SS ’22

With physical events struggling to regain their pre-pandemic pace, even for the second Milan Men’s 2021 event, many brands continued to favor digital shows.

So, the open spaces of the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana overlooking the city of Rome, are the setting for the last Fendi men’s fashion show SS’22. After all, what better location than the headquarters of the maison could be chosen to celebrate the eternal beauty of Rome?

“In this period, our perception of the world was strongly influenced by our particular point
of observation, for me it was the view from the roof of Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana” – said
Silvia Venturini Fendi.

The collection is in fact an ode to the landscape, nature and architecture in which it is immersed. The day fades into night, and with the same gradualness the models chase each other and walk, mapping the contours of the Palace, while the building slowly comes to life in a spectacular and pulsating light show.

The fashion house proposes a light line that experiments with new proportions and new realities, such as the bold crop-jacket that Silvia Venturini Fendi adds to the male wardrobe. With large volumes in outerwear, low-waisted cargo shorts and mini-jeweled baguettes, the designer breaks the codes of classicism, to take the road to freedom.

The FENDI Land print, inspired by an ancient map of Rome kept in the maison’s archives, is another element that underlines Fendi’s devotion to the city. Just like the palette of pastels, from lilac to light blue, which recall the soft colors of the sky against which the collection stands out. And again jackets with inlays, patterned sweaters and printed denim evoke the aerial views seen from the top floors of the Palazzo, and a camouflage pattern that alludes to distant Roman horizons.

Even the iconic accessories are revisited with the addition of modern elements, such as the addition of the ping pong paddle bag and paired with shoes and glasses, which Fendi made in collaboration with Arena.
With Fendi’s SS’22 men’s collection Silvia Venturini has chosen to dare, fighting uncertainty with fantasy, rigidity with lightness, breaking codes with provocation.
