Hermès Ready-to-Wear SS22

Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski presented the new Hermès’ spring-summer 2022 collection with such warm and beautiful undertones, that make us already dream of the next summer.
Strongly characterized by sublime leather workmanship, the Hermès SS22 collection is a riot of monochromatic color palette on a minimal and practical style. The parade was set up at Le Bourget airport; the atmosphere was ideal, because it reminded us of future departures in sunny destinations and more generally the hope of returning to travel freely.

To frame the catwalk, there were also the creations of Flora Moscovici, hand-painted panels depicting fields invested by the sun. “For me it’s really about clothes that enable you to move freely. I think it’s not about going to anything too casual—I think it’s about making an effort, but also the ability to move within your clothes”, said the designer.

The style is the result of the combination of functionality, essentiality and sensuality, and merges everything into tight and well-structured silhouettes. The designer does not let the trends flow without Hermès not reinterpreting them according to its identity; that’s why even here we could find the now classic crop-tops and oversized trousers.

The colour palette travels between cream, yellow and orange, to arrive at darker shades of black, partially interrupted by splashes of white. There are also collarless coats, mini skirts and many crop-tops, combined with softer dresses supporting the movements.

As always, leather is the dominant material, here used on minimal but also sensual garments such as the corseted dress, and the suit with oversized trousers. Finally, there are the small details from which all the devotion to the manufacture of Hermès is evident; the metal mother-of-pearl studs applied on the leather or the eyelets that refer to the equestrian history of the brand. Always referring to Hermes’ heritage, there are bags with horse bit handles.
