Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 21 Menswear

When asked about his previous pre-spring collection, Virgil Abloh said he made a reflection on the current role of fashion at the times we are living in, especially considering the environmental crisis we have to face. This time, with a pandemic still circulating, Abloh focused on the effects of quarantine and solitude. The result of this consideration is a “relaxed formal” collection, as he himself described it.
The models stand in front of an airstrip with some planes in the background, maybe to signify the temporary moment of stasis we are all being witnessing, but at the same time the metaphorical movements fashion does to reach everyone through a screen. Not surprisingly then, the slogan Abloh’s said to have in the studio says, “Don’t come to us, we’ll come to you.”
In terms of chromatic experience, there’s nothing particularly flashy nor dazzling; the prominent colors are indeed the grey, soft yellow, mimetic green, and dark blue. This palette is perfectly in line with the easiness and relaxation of forms and cuts. Is worth noting the designer’s latest experiments with Damier check motif, accompanied by leather. The unmistakable signature with Louis Vuitton’s logo is all over the bags, this time rendered with bright yellow rubber treads.
