MFW Fall 2021: DSquared2

Milan (and the fashion industry at large) has polarized in this last period. On the one hand, some seek security and comfort, on the other hand, some are launched towards the future and can’t wait to go back to “the good old days”. Dan and Dean of DSquared2 undoubtedly belong to the second group, which is growing in number as we approach summer and as vaccines are distributed. There is still a long way to go, of course, but dreaming is good for the heart, so we might as well immerse ourselves in fantasies. Today, these fantasies coincide with our memories: in the case of Dan and Dean, it is the memories of the fashion shows, the waiting, the adrenaline, the electric shock of the backstage, but also the effect on the public, the greetings, the congratulations. Everything is missing, literally.

However, the “wow” effect is not lacking in this DSquared2 Fall-Winter collection! The outfits are incredibly adrenaline-pumping and owe their strength to the clash of very different pieces, fabrics and styles. There are indeed elements of streetwear, such as the acetate tracksuits and the maxi coloured bombers; mini party dresses, in sequins and crystals, but also coloured lurex; denim, embroidered knitwear, thick tights and shearling outerwear.

Constantly Give Me More, this is the motto of the collection, which wants to be exaggerated. To provoke and entertain, for the simple pleasure of being over the top. After all, this is precisely the style of the two fashion twins, who celebrate fashion for what it is: a crazy carnival of strong emotions, to which we hope to return (physically, for real) as soon as possible.
