MFW Fall 2021: Giorgio Armani

Giorgio Armani has always been devoted to practicality: of course, everything that bears his name is refined and elegant, but what matters the most is the functional, useful side. This is also the approach with which the designer (and the brands belonging to him) faced the pandemic, adapting, among other things, to the digital world incredibly fast and designing everyday comfortable garments. The Fall-Winter 2021 collection is no exception. It has a sporty and casual soul, enriched by feminine, sensual, even audacious details, which make the whole lively without compromising its spirit.
Armani himself declared that his first thought is not so much the (upcoming) rebirth, understood as conviviality, parties and the return to normal, but rather the current times: of course, the designer looks to the future full of hope but, as a well-grounded man like he is, he knows that the important thing is to navigate the stormy sea in which we are now, in this very moment. Clothes must be our allies.
The menswear and the womenswear collection are complementary to each other. Fabrics and cuts are, as anticipated, rather relaxed, and the colours recall the natural world. The theme is indeed dear to the designer, who often recalls Nature in his creations. Blue dominates, in all its gradients, and there are peaks of teal, emerald and metallic grey. Furthermore, some decorations, on the necklines or in the flounces of the dresses, float as if on the seabed. Armani is also a great animal lover and the two collections share, among other things, the grandeur of a large green statue of a gorilla, which is dear and inspiratory for the designer.

The evening proposals move to the floral theme, and a light touch of pink comes through. The fabric and its textures however remain the protagonist. Shimmering sequins and silky satin remain, without a doubt, the chicest and most elegant thing you can wear for a night out – pre and post-pandemic!
