Jeremy Scott returns to the American catwalk presenting the new spring-summer collection 2022.
Enveloped in the evocative atmosphere of Bryant Park in New York, the collection was meant to celebrate the early years of Scott’s career, the ’90s fashion.
As per the script, the Moschino collection releases colors and vivacity from all pores, despite the bad weather that unexpectedly hit the show.
Speaking of the inspiration behind the collection, Scott mentioned the image of women who come together to have lunch, dressed in pastel colors that light up in the sun. To this image, however, sweeter notes are added, even childish, which dampen the adult and feminine atmosphere. Indeed, Scott spoke of references to the nursery and childhood.
Childish elements, prints and applications of animals, elephants, giraffes, seals, ducks, mix with tweed and quilted satin structured suits, create completely unusual combinations.
The structured cuts, the skirt suits and tight jacket evoke the powersuit of the 90s, an iconic symbol of the TV series The Nanny. It is in fact also at The Nanny, that Scott turned to seek inspiration, that extra touch of vivacity that make the garments fun and cheeky.
Pastel colors dominate the scene, softening the gloomy day; these are accompanied by bolder details such as feather sleeves, a yellow lace corset, a meticulous work of patchwork and eccentric hairstyles.
This is certainly not one of Scott’s politically engaged collections, but it certainly brought a breath of fresh air on the catwalk and some king of nostalgia for the summer that has just passed.
