MSGM Ready-to-Wear SS22

Massimo Giorgetti rewrites the MSGM style for spring-summer 2022, simplifying shapes and resizing volumes.

Set up at the Library of Trees in Milan, the presentation of the new collection has remained intimate, although organized live like many other brands going back to normal.

The inspiration for the collection comes from the images of the city in the ’80s, from the positivism spread in the air, and from the new creative and artistic potential hoping for a bright future.

These garments release the same positivity, with bright colors and tight silhouettes that still recall the summer days just left behind. The designer simplifies the forms, proposing some garments reminiscent of the ’60s, then redefine the volumes and play with a bright color palette.

In memory of the summer days, there are floral prints, textures in checks and stripes. The suits with crop top matched are very fresh and dynamic, as well as the mini floral dresses; the mini skirts and shorts from cyclist square, and shorts and pants flare with pink fringes shocking too.

The collection is fresh, brings to mind the meadows dazzled by the sun on a hot day and clear of clouds, while having a picnic outdoors. Of course, it lacks all the sensuality we saw in the other catwalks, but the designer does not believe that it is a defect. Indeed, he states with confidence: I’m not blindly following what others are doing. I don’t do sexy. This collection is frisky, yes. But sexy? No.”

The vivacity and radiance clearly emerges from the crop top combined with oversized blazers borrowed from menswear; even from the top with puffed sleeves in denim, and from the one in orange braided on the front and combined with a vaporous floral skirt.
