Paris SS2021: Jacquemus

About a week ago, Simone Porte communicated on Jacquemus’ instagram profile the advent of the 2021 spring / summer men’s / women’s fashion show. “L’amour”, this is the title of the event, was celebrated on July 16 in the lush wheat fields.
The presentation took place outside the calendar of the French digital shows, and outdoors, with a not too large audience that sat right in the middle of the high ears of wheat, rigorously spaced out from one another. Lavender leaves room for wheat, in a sublime atmosphere where fashion and nature are in perfect balance.
This combination is clearly visible from the palette of the collection, from which among all, white, gray, and black shades stand out. However, yellow is the predominant color, a not too bright kind of yellow which also recalls the S-shaped catwalk on which the models walk; it is mainly visible in suits and in men’s shirts. The harmony between nature and clothes is then clearly seen in the movement of the catwalk, which recalls the sinuous curves in perfect Jacquemus style of some pieces: from the balloon sleeves of the tops to the long dresses that accentuate the silhouette.
Jacquemus’ femininity is delicate, but at the same time sinuous and captivating. The dizzying slits of dresses and skirts are proof of this, as well as the wide necklines on the back and the micro-tops.
The atmosphere was that of a warm and melancholic Impressionist painting. Thoughts immediately go to the vast wheat fields captured by Van Gogh. A melancholy made of hot sun, tan and those late summer days anticipating September.
